Pregnancy Yoga

Yoga is the perfect tool for birth preparation. It helps to strengthen the body, enhance flexibility and gives women tools to help calm the mind. The techniques taught in pregnancy yoga by Rachel come from classical Hatha Yoga training but have been adapted for pregnant women through both her specialist training, personal experience and ongoing feedback from clients. Pregnancy Yoga is beneficial to all stages and ages of pregnant women, although a health questionnaire is required before attending the first class. The class is structured around physical, emotional and mental support for pregnancy and into parenthood. If a consistent, simple yoga practice is developed in pregnancy these valuables tools can be sustained through the birth and into parenthood to be shared with your baby and other family members.

Rachel Chapman - Pregnancy Yoga
Rachel started her yoga journey 18 years ago and has practiced ever since. She trained as a Yoga Teacher in 2007 while living in Nelson and did her Yoga Teacher Training through IYTA Aotearoa.
Through the experience of her own pregnancy and post-natal period Rachel changed her own practice and realised she wanted to share these learnings with others.  In 2010 she completed a specialist pre and post natal training through Classical Yoga in the UK and taught many classes in her homeland of Yorkshire, in the UK throughout 2010/11.  She returned to NZ in late 2011 and has continued to teach pregnancy and post natal yoga.
“I love sharing yoga with pregnant women and parents. They have taught me some valuable lessons and continue to be the greatest advocates and examples of the inspiration and benefits that yoga can bring.” says Rachel.  In 2012 she completed a yoga training with Samadhi Yoga which covered yoga from toddlers to teens.  Rachel strongly believes sharing yoga as a tool for pregnancy and parenthood.
Classes run from 2nd October, 13th November 2013 and 22 January 2014.
